Kornfield was among the first westerners to bring mindfulness meditation to the masses in the United States, and A Path with Heart is his most accessible book. In it, Kornfield lucidly explains how mindfulness meditation works, not only to relieve stress a nd improve focus, but also to help one become more emotionally recep- tive, more empathic. “It literally changed my life,” Ford said of the book. After reading it, Ford tracked down Kornfield and arranged to meet the man who seemed to be speaking so clearly. Kornfield soon beca me his meditation teacher.
